Lauren is the kind of person you can take photos with for hours and then lose track of time with out in the cold, chatting away. I’ve known this stunning woman my entire life, and throughout the past 3 years, we’ve only become closer.
Our families have been friends ever since our older sisters were in playgroup together. Since then, about 24 years have passed, and our families have stayed close, though maybe not quite as close as we wish. Living at opposite ends of the island definitely takes a toll on face-to-face fun.
Ever since I knew Lauren had started to model professionally, I wanted her to be in my photos. At photography school, we were constantly in need of models, and someone so excited and willing as Lauren, was the perfect fit! We had so much fun together in the Dawson studio, ending up with 20 silly photos for every 3 beautiful ones (and they were beautiful if I do say so myself!)
Lauren has such a kind, open and loving heart. She can have a laugh with anybody, and is bound to make everyone laugh. At big family gatherings I tend to gravitate towards her, not only because she is close in age to myself, but also because she makes me feel the most included and comfortable. What an amazing quality to possess!
As I continue with this blog adventure, I find myself seeking more and more to take photos of young women, very similar to myself! Lauren works at Bath & Body Works (her H&M equivalent), she coaches swimming every night (aka, my office job) and has a passion for modelling (my photography!). We both have ambitions to travel and experience the world; have supportive and hardworking parents and siblings to look up to.
One thing that Lauren has down pat (she could definitely give lessons on this), is the smize. She’s a pro at smiling with her eyes (for all you oldies who read my blog ;)), and shows it off in various photos I’ve taken of her, both past and present.
Lauren’s been part of.. probably about 5 or 6 school projects over the years? She’s just so versatile and her university schedule has been flexible enough to accommodate my many shooting requests! Perhaps I’ll do a post devoted specifically to past projects to show you where exactly I’ve come from and how I’ve (hopefully!) improved as a photographer.
Exploring Île-Perrot with Lauren on the most beautiful Saturday in November (a far cry from the weather this week!) was such a blast. I asked her where we could find some tall grass, and she actually showed me a variety of places! We drove around in her Honda civic, fresh smells and fresh air all around. We ended up at La Pointe du Moulin, where Lauren had spent many a school field trip, learning about the history of Île-Perrot and the surrounding area. The park was beautiful and the leaves had recently fallen, making for a crisp, clean shoot.
Lauren’s social media game is absolutely on point. She puts out a youtube video almost every week, showing us her crazy braiding talent and effective home workouts alike. She’s an avid Snapchat-er and Instagrammer, managing a personal account as well as a modelling account. She’s worked with various photographers around Montreal, so I’m just very grateful to have her all to myself for a shoot every now and then!
God puts people in our lives for reasons; no human is simply there for you to use and discard. I’m so happy that every time I see Lauren, we delve deeper into life things and family things and general things that make us satisfied or content or frustrated or laugh. Very thankful for the wonderful, lifelong friend I have in Lauren.
Til next time,
